Contemplative Prayer: Finding a Path to God

St. Teresa of Avila called contemplative prayer “nothing else than a close sharing between friends; it means taking time frequently to be alone with him who we know loves us.” Do you desire a deeper relationship with God, a more intimate knowledge of the one who fashioned you in secret and knew your soul before you were you?  Will you commit to seeking, in the words of Thomas Merton, the “possibilities for joy in the love and knowledge of Him?”  Join parishoner and Education Committe member, Celeste Calabotta in exploring the mysteries of contemplative prayer, learn ways that help us to seek God’s face, and experience “lectio divina,” an ancient practice of prayer that uses the reading of scripture to help us experience the ways of God.

Presented by The Education Committee of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Tuesday, May 17 from 7:00 to 9:00 in the parish hall.
