The Right Reverend Lambert Reilly is a Benedictine monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana. He served as the archabbot of the monastic community from June 2, 1995, to December 15, 2004. He was the eighth abbot and fifth archabbot in the community’s 157-year history. For more than 40 years, Archabbot Lambert has distinguished himself as a retreat director and speaker on issues of spirituality and prayer. He has given countless retreats, in particular to groups of bishops, priests and sisters, and has conducted parish missions throughout the nation. He has been a frequent retreat master for Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in the United States and India. A native of Pittsburgh, Archabbot Lambert professed vows as a Benedictine monk in 1956 and was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood in 1959. Besides his retreat work and teaching, he has assisted in parishes, worked in public relations, and served as guest master, assistant oblate director and assistant to the novice master. His academic education includes a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from St. Vincent College, Latrobe, PA, in 1955, Master of Divinity and Master of Religious Education degrees from Saint Meinrad School of Theology, and a Master of Science in Education from Duquesne University. In addition, he did graduate studies at The Catholic University of America, Georgetown University, University of Evansville and Arkansas State University. He is the author of two books, Because There Is Jesus (Abbey Press, 1997), a collection of his homilies and conferences; and Latin Sayings for Spiritual Growth (Our Sunday Visitor Press, 2001), a compilation of spiritual reflections on his favorite Latin sayings and New Testament quotes. Father Lambert will introduce himself at the Saturday 5:00 vigil mass and the 8:00 and 10:30 Sunday masses. He will concelebrate 9:00 a.m. masses Monday - Wednesday in addition to the nightly mission presentation. Reconciliation available upon request.
