JUSTFAITH PROGRAM

The Saint Thomas the Apostle Church is offering a learning and transformational program called JustFaith.

The program was developed by Jack Jezreel, M.Div., the founder and Executive Director of JustFaith Ministries. According to its web site the JustFaith program has been used in over 1,000 parishes and churches involving 20,000 people. The program was brought to our attention by people in our area who took the program and loved their experience.
The JustFaith program is a 30-week process that empowers participants to develop a passion and thirst for justice, and prepares them for the work of social ministry. The program has been offered in some area parishes including St.Timothy in West Hartford, St Patrick/St. Anthony in Hartford, and St Bridget in Manchester. JustFaith focuses on discipleship, engagement in the life of Jesus and the call to be about God's dream of justice and compassion in a world scarred by the domestic and global crisis called poverty. Meeting weekly, small groups of 10-15 people employ books, videos, discussion, prayer, retreats and hands-on experiences."
The intent is to provide a tapestry of learning opportunities that emphasize and enliven the healing work of God's compassion found in scripture, church history and teaching, and faithful witnesses. Participants are exposed to not only a substantive and demanding course of study but are also afforded the privilege of becoming community with other participants and sharing a spiritual journey of faith and compassion that is both life-giving and challenging. The 30-week program begins in September and runs through the following spring. The cost for each participant is $140, which covers the cost of the books used in the program.
