Some questions did come up during our first winter storm.
How do we know that school will have a delayed opening?
As a lover of snow days, it’s an easy answer. Listen to the weather advice on
the TV. If it sounds like there will be a weather problem, you’ll need to
watch the TV and listen to the radio in the morning. The West Hartford School
District makes the decision around 5:15AM. We will list our school on the TV and
radio announcements as well, but we always follow the schedule of the West
Hartford School District.
What if there’s a problem during the school day?
We will use the e-mail system already in place. Are you listed with us? We have
run two tests this year and tried to refine the system with personal notes. If
you want to be included, e-mail us at mailbox@stthomasapostlewh.org.
We’ll be sure to get you on the list.
If you do not participate in the e-mail system, you’ll
have to listen to the radio or watch the TV, when storms are in the forecast.
What about Before School
Care…is it opened on delayed school days?
Yes, we are opened at 7:20AM, if you have signed up for the program. If you have
enrolled in the program, your child may be dropped at school on delayed opening
days as early as 7:20 through the back door of the school. There’s a doorbell
for your convenience.
Can
I leave a message with the office on days when the school day is delayed?
The phones will be working to take messages. The Before Care Program will not be
taking calls, however. You can leave a message for the office or your child’s
teacher.
Please
call us (236-6257) if we can answer any questions.
