Here is an update on some recent Parish Events of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3600.
On Sunday, April 25th we held our 5th Annual Wife’s and Guest’s Appreciation Luncheon to demonstrate our thanks for their support during the year. Our Council Chaplain, Father Samuel Seyd gave a thoughtful presentation on the Acts of the Apostles to our group. The Knights of Columbus presented Father Sam with a Certificate of Appreciation for his contributions to the successful afternoon.
On Devine Mercy Sunday, the Honor Guard participated in the Holy Hour Service in our Chapel. In the picture below, from the left are Victor D’Aquino and Steve Garofalo from the Saint Mark Council, Michael DeConti from the Monsignor John F. Callahan Council, and Joseph Amato and Chris Randall of Saint Brigid Council. Members from three Parish Councils joined together for the event.
At our Council Meeting this month we had a special presentation of funds generated from our “Medical Mission to Haiti Pasta Supper”.
Grand Knight, Hugh Schweitzer presented a check for $330 to one of our Parishioners, Kathleen Scotti, who volunteers her medical skills to the people of Haiti several times a year. Three hundred dollars was raised from the dinner and $30 was received from two generous donors who wanted to support this worthy effort. Standing next to Kathleen is her daughter Cara, who just returned from a Medical trip to Haiti where she spent about a week volunteering her medical skills to the victims of the earthquakes. Cara shared with us her experiences while serving there and many pictures that she took of the city and countryside devastation.
This past Saturday, the fourth annual Retreat for Blind Catholics was held at Saint Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield. Several members of the Knights of Columbus transported individuals and their dogs, from around the state for a day of reflection that included breakfast, Mass, lunch, Confession and several uplifting discussions for the members of this close community
